Staying alive

The dramatic sound of Battlefield 2 echoes trough the walls in the student cabins. The fans from the overused xbox 360 drown the noice from the engine room and the squishing sound of the first chef killing cockroaches.

The xbox is now the thing that keeps us awake during our free watches when we really should be sleeping, although we are all very thankful to our shipmate Simon who brought the 2009s most wanted Christmas present onboard. We will be facing four more days of this before we reach Cherbourgh.

Actually life onboard is quite boring from time to time but our chief officer has arranged a competition between the watches. The competition occurs when starboard takes over our shift and every time the objective of the competition is different. This time the task was to make a clove hitch, a very ordinary knot although the competitors would have to tie the knot only by using their feet. We won. Great success.

Ever sense we left the Kiel channel the wind has been against us and the main engine has been running non-stop for the past 24 hours. Anyhow the mood onboard is great and we are looking forward to reach France.
