The Frida ice-cream!

The life here on-board T/S Gunilla is very special and I can’t really put my finger on what it is. It’s amazingly and beautifully horrible here, but it’s so worth every moment!

One moment is amazing, you see the sunset up in the mast, watching a sea turtle swim around or paragliding in El Hierro! While other moments are so horrible that you just want to jump overboard, quite literally, such as when you’re seasick and just want to puke but you’re not being able to, or you feel like The Walking Dead even though you just slept and you really don’t want to go up on deck to have your watch for four hours until you can sleep again.

But on the other hand, today was a great day because I was off-duty and could stroll around in the beautiful little city called Santa Cruz de la Palma. I ate lunch with some friends of mine and after that we did some shopping and I found a dress that fit me perfectly. A long dark green dress that goes well with my strawberry blonde hair and green eyes, my mom will for sure be proud! Apparently, I buy too little according to her…Unusual request of a mom, wanting me to buy more, haha! We went to an ice-cream parlour where the name of the ice-cream was Frida, like me! I took mango and strawberry flavoured ice-cream, it truly was delicious!

Later on, I also spent some time at the beach with volcano sand, it was so warm that I felt the hotness from the sand through the towel I laid on. I wasn’t in the mood to take a swim but I listened to music and sunbathed after putting on sunscreen, of course. After my horrible sunburn I got in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria I’m much more careful with my sensitive pale skin. Well, anyway later on we just relaxed and enjoyed our day off. The last thing we did before we returned home was to eat on McDonald’s. We couldn’t resist it!

When we had returned home, I chose to sit on the quay and listen to some music and look through my phone. I also spoke with a friend of mine who is in my watch for some time It was really nice to be able to sit by myself for a while but also to have some alone time to just talk about life with a friend. Unfortunately, you’re not allowed to stay on the quay after 10 pm but I truly enjoyed it while it lasted and after that I went to sleep.

I hope you have a great time wherever you are, and if that’s not the case, try to focus on what’s good right now and what you look forward to. It could be something big or small.

I look forward to eat sushi with my sisters!

Best regards,

Frida
