We have a great time at Gunilla. Today we had our first day at sea. We left Miami and are now heading towards Havana. Miami has been a great city to visit. It has offered us great weather and great shopping. Yesterday many of us went to the beach for a few hours. The beach is golden and the water is turquoise and perfectly warm. We could also spend our evening in Miami if we wanted to. We did not have to be back at the boat before nine. Many of us also enjoyed the dinner on one of the beach restaurants; a great start to an amazing trip.
We have looked forward to sail on Gunilla again; climb, set sails and feel the fantastic power of the sea. I am sure that our knowledge that not has been used in one and a half year will come right back to us after a few days at sea. It is interesting to discover how much you actually forget about sailing in only one and a half year.
When we had our first watch we sat sail immediately. Even thought it is going slow, we are not using our engine. It was a bit scary to climb in the mast again, but I think that we will get used to it in a while again. The rules at sea are slowly coming back to us again and so does the routines.
In three days we are in Havana. I think that there are going to be some culture clashes at first. I imagine Havana as a big city that has a lot of things to offer. It is going to be interesting to hear about the people´s thoughts of the government, but most of all I am looking forward to listen to the Cuban music and learn some Cuban dance moves!
Best regards!
