Today, a beach excursion was planned for the students studying nature. Which meant that the seafaring students would be left on board, taking the responsibility of keeping the boat in check. Though they didn't leave until about 1 pm, we still had the morning to work together.
The anchor winch had some problems, getting stuck. So me, and two other students were in charge of figuring it out. We removed some rusted stuck mutters and bolts, only to find that they weren't the problem. So we took some knives to carve out the lines in the mutters, and put them back on with copper paste slathered everywhere. My pants turned a pretty orange, shimmery colour, and as it was our wash day, we later started a machine at 90°.
When the others left, we were only four students onboard, leaving me on galley duty. We served fruit salad with cream. It was delicious with apples, oranges and raisins. Doing dishes and cleaning up, chopping veggies for the next day. We had a really fun time, as I fixed the pasta and chicken salad, the chef prepared lunch and Isabelle did the dishes. We sang along to Chappel Roan and discussed the world.
When everyone was back, we started cleaning, and students that were in the city were returning. Dinner was served at six, “pyttipanna”.
After that I had some spare time before my night watch, and decided to listen to a podcast, “anything goes” with Emma Chamberlain. Looking through my stuff, I found some henna I bought in Spain, and decided to decorate my legs. Squiggly lines of suns, frogs, flowers and cats. It took an hour to dry, and then I pulled the paste off, and chilled for another hour, before putting on a crew neck and going up to the half deck. I joined Helene at ship's watch. I sat from 22:30-00:30, changing partners at half past eleven. For the entire time, we sat and watched as multiple people failed to park in a parking space. Every single car scratched their front on the pavement, or/and reversed into the blue car behind them. French drivers drive pretty safely, but parking seems like an impossible obstacle.
