A Great First Day in Cape Verde

We saw land for the first time yesterday at sunset. It wasn´t even that we saw the island itself, but we could see how the sun went down behind a high mountain. And then this morning when I woke up, we were here.

One thing we all had longed for was the beach. Almost all of us walked together to the beach. When we saw it, it was almost like a dream come true. The sand was white and the ocean, turquoise. We all hurried to change into our swimsuits and ran down into the water. The water was cloudy, and it was hard to tell if it was shallow. When I took a couple of steps I fell Straight into a deep abyss. It must have looked very funny when all of us fell in the water.

We hung out on the beach for a while and then began the search for Wi-Fi like in every other port. It wasn’t hard to find Wi-Fi on this island. We walked along the beach to a bar and ordered some iced coffees. When one has been without Wi-Fi for five days there is a lot of social media to check and a lot of messages to reply to. Imagine how it must be after 18 days over the Atlantic Ocean!

Tomorrow, I hope to explore more of what seems like a beautiful city!
