A long day

Today was a long day with an even longer journey. My day started at 4:30 when my friend and I woke up to get ready for the trip. We brought our breakfast and our bags with us, and my friend’s dad drove us to the meeting point for the bus. It was cold but completely still outside. The bus arrived around 6, and by 6:30 we were on our way.

Our journey to Copenhagen had begun, where we would catch the plane to Lisbon. The bus ride was calm, morning sun, clear skies, and a good energy in the group. Everyone was excited for the trip, and not a single sign of tiredness could be seen. After about three hours we arrived in Copenhagen, checked in our luggage, went through security, and got a salad for lunch. After about an hour I was all set, had eaten my salad, and all that was left was to wait for boarding.

Once I sat down on the plane, it took only about 30 minutes before I fell asleep with my music on full volume. I had downloaded a huge amount of songs before the trip so I’d have enough for weeks. After roughly four hours we landed in Lisbon and had about an hour of layover before our next flight to Ponta Delgada. Again, after around 30 minutes I fell asleep and woke up an hour later.

We landed smoothly, picked up our luggage without any problems, and after about 30 minutes we were outside waiting for the bus. I was thrilled to finally have arrived and to be on my way to T/S Gunilla. When we got there, we received a quick introduction from the crew and later had a late dinner, chili con carne with rice. After that we went to our cabin, unpacked, and now as I’m writing this, it’s time for bed. We’re waking up around 7 tomorrow for familiarization.

It’s been a long day with a long journey, and now everyone is exhausted.
