An impossible day to write about

Today was officially the day when nothing happened.

I woke up at 7:00 am as always and I fell asleep once again until 7:45, as always. This meant that I had to hurry up to make it in time for the morning line up, which made me miss breakfast. This was kind of unfortunate since the others had pancakes. That was possibly the very most exciting event all day. At 8’o clock it was time for us to get on our watch.

The watch started with a short yoga session and climbing in the rigg since our watch leader thought that we looked a bit tired, something she was absolutely right about. Climbing is one of my favourite activities on the boat – especially during night watch on a night full of stars, so this made me very pleased. Another thing I enjoyed was the 10’o clock snack. We got raspberry cake, the pancakes I missed for breakfast, apples, melon, and freshly baked bread. What more could one ask for?

As I wrote earlier, nothing really happened during today’s watch, or during the entire day. First of all, the wind is still non-existing and therefore we are still going by engine. Since the engine does most of our work for us, we don’t really need to set any sails. We dowsed the royal, and the main sail in preparation for a squall that never came and that was probably the main event of today’s watch.

Secondly, today is Sunday, which means no lessons. Sunday also means a meeting with the entire crew on deck. During this meeting the rain came, but the wind did not. After this I took a nap, watched a movie, and waited for our night watch to begin.

As you have probably noticed by now, the day was pretty uneventful. Everyone has been tired, and the energy-level has been low. Now everybody is going around and waiting for the wind that hopefully will arrive tomorrow.
