A normal day at sea

Today, or well yesterday, we woke up at 11:30 pm after sleeping for about three hours. The day on the 12-4 watch, I would say, is kind of upside down and you don’t really have a clue whether it’s day or night when you get “purrad”.

Anyway, we got up and it turned out to be night, relived port watch and just when the clock turned 12, we sang happy birthday to Alice who turned 17. Me, who was a "backis", made pancakes for the others in my watch.

It was very much fun until the part where the galley got so worm me and my backis mate had to, alternate going into the chef fridge to cool ourselves down. The work force comprimed trash, our daily task, and cleaned the laundry room. At 1:30 am it was time for fika and the pancakes were very much appreciated by everyone. After the fika we cleaned the floor in the galley and the cleaning got cleard by one of our watch leaders so we went up on half deck and helped the others tighten the braces. Not short after, at 4 am, we got relived and went back to bed while starboard watch got down to work.

At 11 am midship got up and ate lunch to later do our laundry, since it was our laundry day. Then we went up on watch and although our watch leader, Jeppe, told us that time passes by like nothing at the 12-4 watch, it really felt like it didn’t. After the watch it was time for some lessons. Anne-Li first started telling us about the school shooting in Örebro and that it has been reported about all around the world. For the rest of the three hour long lessons we worked with science, English and history and then slept for four hours until the next watch.
