Öckerö gymnasium

August 21

Today, for the first time in a long time, I woke up to a calm sea. We had entered a fjord north of Bergen in Norway and had a few hours ahead of us before we arrived. The entire cabin slept through breakfast, so we had to rush up on deck because I was scheduled to relieve the helmsman.

Around 11 AM, we arrived at the dock, fairly close to the city center and next to a large yacht. The rest of the day was free, so we immediately went out to explore the harbor town. The nature, like the rest of Norway, is filled with mountain ranges, deep valleys, a lot of greenery. Beautiful architecture and old houses that I believe are preserved from Viking times or at least inspired by them. We were also next to the famous Bryggen houses. In the town, we visited a mall, had coffee at a café, and walked around for a while. Back on the boat, some of us climbed up into the rigging, where I took some pictures and enjoyed the incredible view of the harbor. At around 9:30 PM, about half an hour before we had to be back on the boat for the night, we got a craving for crisps, so we ran to the nearest store. The rest of the evening we just hung out in the mess before I went to bed.
