Cast of from the beautiful Scotland

Today was the twenty-third day of the trip and it feel like I’m finally getting used to the life at sea. The sun was shining and it was fairly warm compared to how the latter half of the trip has been.

I was post today so I got to enjoy the sun whilst keeping an eye out for other ships and buoys so that we don’t run into them. After being post during my free time I sat at the front of the boat and read some. During my reading I fell asleep and was awoken to shouts. First I was confused but when I looked down into the water I saw a big splash and a fin sticking out from the ocean surface. The big splash was a fin whale that had surfaced just about over fifty meters away from the ship. I feel very lucky to be able to witness such great animals up close when most people only get to see them in documentaries. A few hours later we had a meeting with everyone on board where they told us that we were gonna stop for a swim stop. I didn’t swim because the waters were 13 degrees and I’m not that brave. At night I saw mareel which was very beautiful and it gave me something to look at during the four hours I stood watch. The fog was very heavy which made it extra hard to keep watch of other boats. After the watch I went to bed exhausted but ready for another day.
