Today started off with egg and bacon for breakfast, just as every other Sunday. After getting ready for the day, we took the bus to Chefchaouen, also called the blue pearl city. The ride there was about two hours.
We’ve got recommendations from Anne-Li that we at least should stay awake on our way to or home from Chefchaouen. So, everybody tried to do that in every possible way, but I think most of us slept anyway.
When we finally arrived, the sun was beaming. In a long row we walked about fifteen minutes to get to the centre of the blue city. We walked through a Walt shaped entrance and then nearly the whole city was painted in different blue colours. The city was so beautiful and, in each corner, there was people selling stuff. The city was full of impressions like oil paintings, rugs in different colours and a bunch of vegetation on the ceilings. It was nearly incomprehensibly beautiful.
After two and a half hours it was time for lunch at Casa Hassan. We were placed upstairs on different tables. In about five minutes our starters came in; a onion and tomato salad with bread. Then the waiter came in with huge traditional pot with chicken, potatoes and carrots. Shortly after that the dessert came in. We got sweet mint tea and also about ten different small cakes. It was all so well fixed and extremely delicious.
Then we went to barbershop and Oscar shaved his head. After that we went shopping for oil paintings. The guys we bought from were extremely nice to us and gave us a really nice price just because we came from Sweden. I think what I appreciated the most about the day was just to stroll around the alleys and just being around the inhabitants. Hahaha, a funny thing that happened was that me and my friend Sally were close to being sold to a Moroccan man for quite a lot of camels. A couple of times we were asked if we were looking for men to marry us, which was quite strange because it reminded us about our last voyage when we were in Senegal and Suriname.
After a wonderful day we were headed back to the bus to get back to Tangier. It was really nice looking out on the beautiful views. I shared music with Nova the whole ride and we listened to Peter LeMarc - Handens fem fingrar, and to those beautiful tones we fell asleep.
