Climbing and beach visit on Valentines day

Three days have now passed since we left our loved ones back in Sweden. Today it is Valentine´s day, and some of us might share an extra thought to the ones we love.

We woke up by 7 am to a shining and thriving sun. However, the tropical weather is certainly already noted. The shipguards got threatened underneath the sunroof as the bright sky opened up in a quick but heavy rainfall, leaving the dry places on deck only a few. Captain informed us all by the morning gathering that Starboard and Port would get to visit land today after closing up the last parts of the familiarization. We in port got to start the day climbing the rig for the very first time of this trip. It was very fun, and so was it to later on herd sails. The feeling of standing on top of the mast is incredible, you feel so free as the waves moves by so slowly below your feet.

We left Gunilla by 2 pm with the tender and grabbed a bus to the beach almost directly. As soon as we got to the beach, warm and sweaty, we threw ourselves into the cooling water, a moment we have longed for so long. We stayed at the beach until the sunset with the view of Gunilla in front of us in the horizon. Before taking the tender back to Gunnis we took a bus back to Port Louis´, ate some local food and made some calls home. To celebrate valentine´s onboard did amidship decorate the dinner tables and played ¨För kärlekens skull¨ by Ted Gärdestad. What a cliché! Relaxing on backen, venting through all your thoughts with a friend ended up being a perfect way to wrap up a very cosy day.
