Today us starboard-ers had watch. The others were allowed to leave Gunilla for a short time period but had to be at the port to wait for the tenders at one pm. We were really busy the whole day and wondered if we would have time for one last call home. We helped lift the mob boats and rescue runner aboard and me and another pupil stowed away the anchor chain. We also did inventory on the flour storage and cleansed it from flour beetles. It was certainly taxing, but with our whole watch on the task it went rather smoothly.
By the the three o’clock fika we were all exceptionally tired when Alex barged in and delivered the good news: we were finished for the day. Port and mid-ship were going to share our evening watch so we could get a good nights sleep and a chance to call home. For those of you pertaining the view that this was unjustified, the other option would have been us working for twelve hours straight with only minor breaks and then getting up at four in the morning to keep on working. So though we felt it was deserved we were still ever so grateful for a four hour break.
We left at around six pm just after nightfall. Therefore there was no beautiful view to capture unfortunately. The weather was quite horrid the whole day, foggy and moist with no sunshine.
During my break I called all my friends and family and sad many a tearful goodbye, however it feels nice to get going. Just one sea leg left, though three weeks seem a little over the top.
Elvin, starboard
