Dolphin Dreams & Deck Days

Today has been an extremely strange day. I don't really know how to describe it, but there has been a strange feeling all day, in a good way!

It's probably no surprise that the day started with me waking up and having breakfast. However, I have another important routine after breakfast; I go out on deck about 20 minutes before my watch and have my morning coffee, regardless of the weather. I would say that's one of the highlights of the day.

Surprisingly it was wet, slippery, and wobbly on deck, so of course, I had two falls in my clumsy boots. It felt really good!… I was the roundman, which personally is my favorite position. You get a bit of alone time when you're in the engine room and folding laundry, but you can also join the watch a little when you feel like it. During one of my rounds, I went down to the main mess where the other watch members were studying. I said hello, and it ended with me and our DOS Hanna-Sofia having a rock-paper-scissors tournament. Really special but really fun.

In the last minutes of the watch, dolphins were spotted, so now I feel complete and feel that I have seen everything I want to see on this trip (it would have been cool though to see Erling up in the rigging).

The almost constant rocking is annoying, exhausting, and entertaining. Today, I felt it would be entertaining. THAT'S WHY we decided to swim in the waves that washed up in the gutter. With 16 degrees in the water and 23 degrees in the air, we put on our swimsuits, our harnesses, and waited to be washed around by the salty North Atlantic water. This was a few hours ago, but I still feel like my cheeks got a workout from laughing so much. I must say, it was a real highlight of the trip. And och my blogg day too! What a perfect coincidence!

I hope this wasn't too messy to read. I also hope you understand what I mean by an extremely strange day. We’re having the best time! All the best.
