First day in Lerwick, Shetland

Today I woke up at 6am to sit anchor guard with Maja. We did some laundry and made sure everything on the boat looked fine. At 8am we arrived at the port and not much later we were allowed on land.

We figured pretty quickly that Lerwick was a small town and for me the main goal was to find Tesco (big supermarket). So that was our first stop. Everyone was like “it’s soo cheap” but when we checked our accounts it wasn’t 4 pounds as in 40 SEK, more like 60 SEK. After lunch at the boat some of us went to probably the highest point on the island. Not that it was that high but you could take pretty good pictures from there. After that we just had to make a stop at Tesco again. Back at the boat I ate dinner, changed to training clothes and when I tell you that me and Minna went on the worst run ever I’m not lying. 3 km just straight upwards killed me but we’re not done. We ran and ran. Didn’t stop at Tesco this time. Then at 9 km Minna said we can’t stop we must have those 10 kilometers and we pushed that last one. Totally exhausted but we had one last stop to make at a beach. Worth to mention that it was a beautiful beach with crystal clear water and clean, soft sand. Which chocked me because we’re on the Shetland islands? Even though it was 12 degrees in the water we jumped in 2 times. Then with frozen feet we walked soaking wet to the boat and took us some hot showers. A perfect way to finish a beautiful day in Lerwick.
