Learning to live the life of a true french. Everything from pastries to knitting. Today we have had half a day freetime and half a day of work.
The day started off with a walk to the first bakery we saw. After nearly a week in the small french town you would think that we would be tired of the french buttery pastries, but fear not, we have tried a different pastry each and every day we have been here. The only thing that’s missing now is a beret, a baguette and a cigarette to be a true french. At the cafe, I was surrounded by my friend who’s aspiring to be good grandparents someday. Three of five in the group were very busy with being deeply concentrated by advanced knitting and crocheting. Now I am just hoping for one of them to crochet some warm socks for me.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay at the cosy cafe all day. We had to prepare for the long voyage over the Bay of Biscay. So we rushed over to the mall and it almost felt like we were preparing to sail across the Atlantic all over again. When we returned to Gunilla we also took over the duties from the other people in our watch. Me and two of my friends were assistant chefs and in charge of the dinner. We worked hard as tiny chefs, cleaning and helping. We also prepared the boat for the voyage by buying fruits that will hopefully last six days. For our voyage which will be about 12 days, to have fruit at least six of those days, sounds amazing to me!
When we finished with cleaning the galley, we were done for the day. I took a shower and called my family. It was nice feeling clean and to socialise with someone that’s not on the boat. Then me and some of my friends studied before calling it a day and went to bed. Now, this day maybe wasn’t as eventful as some of the other days we’ve had on this trip, but it makes you a lot more grateful for the small, exciting stuff that always happens.
