Last day in Málaga

Today my side of the boat had watch (starboard). I started with gangway watch from 9 to 12. It was a calm watch, and not much happened. I stayed by the gangway and checked that everything was in order. My main job was to make sure that only crew and students came on board and that no one went ashore without signing out. Every hour I went on a control round in the engine room, the galley, and the forecastle. I checked that all lights were on, that there were no leaks or strange sounds, and that everything looked normal each time.

The weather was nice, and it was quiet in the harbor because it was an ISPS port. Between the rounds, I sat by the gangway and watched the harbor. The hours went by slowly, but it was an easy morning.

After the watch, I ate lunch in the big mess. We had sausage stroganoff with rice, and it tasted good. When I was done, me and some friends decided to climb on the mast for a while. It was just for fun, and the view from up there was great. You could see the whole harbor and the city of Málaga in the background.

When I came down, I relaxed on deck with some of my friends. Some people listened to music, and others just talked. The weather stayed warm and sunny, so it was nice to sit outside until dinner.

For dinner, we had burgers, which everyone enjoyed. After dinner, we were going to leave the port. Before that I had a short break before our evening watch started at 8 and ended at 12. This was our first real sea watch, so everyone was a bit more focused and excited.

We left the harbor in Málaga just after the watch started and began sailing toward Tangier. The sea was calm, and there was a light wind. During the watch, I steered the ship, kept lookout, and was lifebuoy watch. Steering went well, and it was interesting to keep the ship on the right course. When I was lookout, I watched the sea and the lights from other ships around us.

The night was clear, and we could see the stars above us. Everything went smoothly during the watch, and the weather stayed good. When the watch ended at midnight, I was tired but satisfied with the day.

It had been a normal but good day on board. I started with a calm morning watch, had some time to rest, and then got to take part in our first real sea watch in the evening.
