Last sea watch and docking in Málaga!

Today the starboard watch got “purrade” at 3:30 a.m to go up on watch but compared to most other nights there weren’t that many people to wake up.

Since the sea leg from Tangier to Málaga only took a day, some people had taken on a challenge: to stay awake for 24 hours. Some people call it fun, I call it stupid.

When we were to relieve midship watch from their last night watch they had prepared a song that was about our journey soon coming to an end which was kind of sad. While on watch, we climbed the rigg, ate some fika (quesadillas and sponge cake), listened to our watch leader who played the violin, scrubbed the deck and finally watched the most amazing sunrise with the sun on one side and the beautiful mountains of Spain on the other.

After watch, still not many but some of us went back to bed and slept till lunch. For lunch some sort of soup with meat, potatoes and croutons was served which tasted very good. After lunch we had an evaluation of Tangier, a port presentation about Málaga and swedish with Anne-Li. At four o’clock we were back on watch to dock the ship in Málaga. It was so incredibly warm, much warmer than in Marocko and definitely than in Cherbourg, so it came as a bit of a shock to us all. When we were docked, we finished off the watch with cleaning the student- and crew area while the other watches, port and midship, went ashore to explore the city.
