Maintenance work

Good morning! This day started as usual with a large bowl of porridge with some extra cinnamon and sugar which was really good. I brushed my teeth and went up to the line-up. This Thursday I was going to be work force and today we’re going to focus on different maintenance work.

My first maintenance work were to go around and paint in some spots that were marked with a circle. Then we got a break at 10 AM. After the break we continued with our tasks until we were finished. When I was done Wilhelm, Agnes and I got assigned to clean the garbage room. It doesn’t sound that nice but it’s actually not as nasty as you think. We started off by putting all the garbage in the container on land and then just scrubbed the walls, roof and floor of the room until it smelled nicer.

After this we got our well needed lunch. Now we had more of a difficult task ahead, one that would include a lot of tar. Filippa and I were going to put tar on the parts we stand on while we’re making the sails up on the yard. The difficult thing about tarring is that you need a suit for not spilling on your climbing gear, and that suit makes it a bit harder to move around. Specially when it doesn’t fit you. You also need to take a jar of tar with you while you’re climbing which also makes it a bit more difficult, because you need to ensure that you won’t spill anything since tar is really annoying to clean. But, Filippa and I climbed up and did what we were told to. The feeling afterwards was nice. Both because you could see how the results was and that we were finished. After that it was 3 PM break. Then we had one task left, it was the cleaning. But we had done it a couple of times now so we were pretty fast to get it done. And then our working day was finished and I went for a nap and just chilled the rest of the evening. Good night!
