At 7:00 Am, we were woken up and the day kicked off immediately. After breakfast, it was time for the morning watch from 8:00 to 12:00. It was a solid start to the day, and the hours passed faster than expected. Once the watch was over, lunch awaited, and on the menu were chicken quesadillas. A much-appreciated meal that gave us fresh energy for the afternoon lessons.
The rest of the day went by with lessons until dinner. Dinner was a hearty mix of pasta, bacon, and potato gratin it was a special combination but still good. After dinner, it was time for a short rest before the evening watch from 8:00 PM to midnight. This is our usual watch time, but due to the time zone change, our shift was extended by 20 minutes to ensure everyone got equal time. Small adjustments, but noticeable when the day is already packed.
The night watch mostly involved cleaning both the officer and student quarters. Once the cleaning was done, the challenge was to stay active, which we managed with a variety of games and plenty of laughter. It’s often during these late hours that the camaraderie really shows.
Finally, it was time to hand over the watch to midskepps, and we could finally go to bed. A long but rewarding day, full of routines, responsibility, and teamwork. It was like every singel day at sea.
