Oil rigs on the horizon

During the past 24 hours, there has barely been any other ships in sight, nothing but oil rigs on the horizon.

I started my day at 3:45 AM when my mates and I, whom I share cabin with were woken up, we were told to dress in warm clothes and to get ready for our nightly watch starting at 4 AM.

During the watch I did a lot of maintenance work in the masts, making sure everything was properly secured and greased, I did that for the first two hours or so and then proceeded to rejoin the rest of the watch on deck to man the braces and angle the sails properly according to our new course. When our watch ended at 8 AM, I ate breakfast and headed to bed and slept until our daily lessons started.

After class I slept for a little while until our second watch started at 4 PM, once again I engaged in maintenance for the majority of that watch. At 6 PM, a stellar dinner was served, we had a stew of sorts, which was wonderful.

After our evening watch I took a shower, played some card games and now I am ready to go to bed and start all over again. I would like to thank you for reading about my day and hope you come back for more!
