One day at a time

Today is my second day of finally feeling proper, the last few days on the ocean have been a roller coaster. I have been totally seasick and it turns out my band aid behind the ear did not work as I would like to. Yesterday, I switched into seasick tablets, which turns out have worked way better. Now I enjoy the food like never before.

Today, the timezone came along, and my morning shift only lasted for three hours instead of four, which definitely highlighted my day. Every rest time you get out here, is worth taking. I am constantly tired, but the work has to be done. This little taste of a completely different lifestyle than I am used to, is totally challenge for me. But it is fun, and it can not be compared with the few sailing trips I had with my grandparents when I was younger. The mindset I try to follow is to take one day at a time.

My favorite thing about this 11 day route to A Coruna so far, is when I get to work in the kitchen, called byssan. Working in byssan maybe does not seem special for some students on this boat. However, for me it is special, working in byssan is the only thing on the Gunilla I can connect to the reality at home. I really love to spend time in the kitchen, I love to cook food, but mostly, I love to eat. For the night shift, me and Dante got some instructions from Timoty (the head-chef) to make pancakes. Our working crew on the outside, was the lucky ones who got our crispy, buttery pancakes, and it was very appreciated. To end this blog, I have to say that I am so impressed over how the crew and students corporation in byssan keeps delivering delicious food each and every day.
