Peperpot Rainforest

This morning, Mim, Sixten, and I were on kitchen duty. As usual on Sundays, we served up bacon and eggs. Today's special was scrambled eggs shout out to Humla for making them so good. Seriously, you don't realize how good they were.

At 10 am, we hopped on the bus out of the harbor, heading towards Peperpot, our second rainforest of the trip. Originally a coffee plantation, it's now been left to its own devices, slowly transforming
back into a lush rainforest. It was an awesome visit, and today's animal sightings totally outdid our last trip. We spotted an anteater (who was probably looking for a snack), several lizards (small and big, each with their own reptilian charm), a snake, loads of monkeys (who were basically living their best lives), some capybara-esque creatures, and drumroll, please a sloth with a baby on its belly! I mean, how adorable is that?!

But here's the thing: the real star of the show wasn't the animals—it was the mosquitoes. They were everywhere. It felt like I was the main course at an insect buffet. I swear, I thought I was about to be carried off by a swarm. Luckily for me, I had found an almost full bottle of mosquito spray on my duvet the other day (too bad for the person who lost it), and I doused myself in it like I was prepping for a role in a mosquito repellent commercial. It probably helped that I kept reapplying it like a maniac every five minutes because mosquito bites and me don't mix. I'm not allergic or anything, I just have a habit of scratching them until I look like a walking constellation of scars.

Another highlight of Peperpot? The Wi-Fi. I know, it sounds boring, but trust me it was better than the Wi-Fi back home in Sweden (and that's saying something!). I downloaded three movies, a bunch of episodes, and some new songs in just a few minutes. This was a blessing because, on the Atlantic crossing, I lost nearly all my films. And when I got sick towards the end of that trip, I only had three movies to watch on repeat. So now, if I get sick again (fingers crossed I won't), I'm ready
for round two! My boredom is officially prepared.
