Today we where in the Tangier city in Morocco. Right after we left Gunilla we went right to medina the old part of Tangier for the markets to buy fake designer clothes and souvenirs. We walked around in the markets for a while and tried to haggle on stuff.
Then the group went to eat food, I ate an chawarma which i thought was really not that good. The restaurant was almost right next to the beach which where our next destination for the day. But we where not at the beach for long because there was a shopping mall that we where planning to go to, which we did. After the mall we went right to T/S Gunilla.
My first impressions of Tangier was that it was quite modern in the harbour and left from the exit of the harbour. Another thing i picked up was that the air kinda smelled like fireworks, but that odor got away as soon I got used to the smell. At Medina it was more raggedy, worn down and more like the stereotype of an african city but also felt like the south part of europe. First in the morning i thought that the city felt kinda dead but as time went on the city felt way more alive and more in chaos. I think that the people of tangier were kind of rude but my guess is that it was more of a loud minority, like the street vendors that got angry when you didn’t buy their things.
In the old part of Tangier Medina I felt that medina looked like spain in some places, I based that on the architecture of the buildings and the arrangements of them. The newer side of Tangier felt unfinished and way more modern. The colour of the houses in Medina was a sandy colour and the new side was more white.
