From the moment I first stepped onto the deck, the dream of crossing the Atlantic felt surreal. As a trainee on T/S Gunilla. I knew this voyage would be the ultimate test of everything I knew about sailing. Now, with only a few days left before landfall. I truly fell accomplished.
Daily Life on Board
Life at sea quickly settled into a routine. Each day brought new tasks and challenges, from routine maintenance to unpredictable weather. I learned to live with the constant motion of the boat, the relentless wind, and the ever-changing sea. Amidst the work, there were moments of sheer wonder: dolphins playin around Gunilla, the majesty of a starfilled sky.
The Final Stretch
As we approached our destination, excitement mingled with a sense of accomplishment. The signs of nearing land was starting to show up. A change in the color of the water, the appearance of seabirds were thrilling. Every mile brought us closer to the end of our journey, and each day was filled with joy, accomplishment and a sense of sadness that it was almost over.
