Today is the last full day before going to port, as we are scheduled to arrive at 11 o’clock tomorrow morning. This brought some action to the rutin. Yesterday evening the wind started to build up and this morning when I started my shift the worst were over, but that didn’t mean that the weather wasn’t rough.
Steering in those conditions were a bit challenging and to then walk to the bow to be on outlook was a challenge as well, with all the weather on the main deck. I wasn’t sure if my boots were fully waterproof as I have never used them before. I am very grateful to confirm they are, otherwise those hours wouldn’t had been the best. I do also consider myself grateful for missing all the rain that the other watches had throughout the night.
This evening we went into the fjords. On the evening watch it did unfortunately rain on us. It wasn't as hard to steer and the waves had become much smaller. We decided earlier today to continue north after passing Bergen to make sure that we arrived when the captain had informed the port that we would. We did still sail too fast so we had to hover outside the entrance to the fjord at time. But in time for our shift's end we did enter and had the pleasure of having internet connection. It was a good end to a long day.
