We are finally here in Tangier after ten days out on the sea. As usual, for us with the 12-4 watch, we got woken up at eleven o’clock. And we started the day with breakfast/lunch.
Today we were served some sausage sauce with pasta. It was actually really good and for the first time for some days the cooks did make much food and it was very nice to get as much food as you wanted. On our watch today I was “backis” with Neila. That means that we were helping around in the kitchen of the boat. We served lunch for the other watches before we cleaned up and started to wash and cut up potatoes for dinner. It wasn’t a hectic working day, so the only other thing we did was to cut oranges for the 3 p.m “fika” and start prepping a sauce to dinner.
The other people in our watch was preparing to come to quay. As the pilots were coming at two o’clock and we were going to dock on our watch. After we arrived in the harbor, immigration came and looked at us and our passports. I don’t really know what they did to be fair. They also took our passports before they came back some hours later to say that we were good to go a shore. In the mean time, while we waited for the immigration, we switched from our working clothes to our normal clothes so we could get off the boat as fast as we could.
Some of us didn’t but I decided to stay on the boat for dinner, as it was only half an hour to dinner and the food was potatoes and oven-baked salmon. I can tell you it was the best thing I have ever had on the boat this voyage. It was really amazing! Afterwards we rushed off the boat to meet Tangier for the first time and let me tell you it was a shock for me how rich the harbor was and how touristy Tangier was. Every shop in the Medina, the old part of the city, had tourist things. Like magnets and postcards. Most of the shops also had ceramics, shawls and bags of leather. Because we needed to be back on the boat at 19:30. We didn’t have much time to look around which was very sad. When I got back to the boat I watched the first episode of the series Daisy Jones and The Six and it was very good and interesting. That was it for today, hope you had a good day back home to.
