Under The Sea

“Bang, bang, bang! The clock is 23:30 and you have watch in 30 minutes, time to get up.”
But all you feel like doing is going back to sleep. Because those two hours feels like two minutes, and you just don’t have the motivation to get up and work the whole night.

However, this night is going to be spent in the galley (the kitchen on Gunilla), making chocolate balls and cleaning, so it’s very chill and relaxing. After 3 hours and 30 minutes, it was finally time to wake up the next watch team, Staboard, and of course we who had worked all night in the gally wanted to help. So we grabbed a speaker and started to play All I Want for Christmas Is You – Indian Christmas Remix, and I can’t express how funny that was when you’re overtired.

Seven hours later it was time to get up again to eat lunch and then go back on watch, but this time as work crew. Only a little while into the watch, we got attacked. Not by pirates, but by flying fish and when we brace the yards. The sea, it must have known we were hot because we got totally drenched by a huge wave and the song Under The Sea started playing in my head and continued for the rest of the day.

Later, when we tried to coil, our coiled ropes were taken away by the waves, and we had to start over around 20 times before we finally finished, just before the next big wave.

After the watch, we had some lessons and then I played some guitar before the sun set completely and another awesome day was over on T/S Gunilla. It’s weird that this is our teenage life, because it’s the most wonderful experience ever and I’m going to miss this so much when it’s over.
