Öckerö gymnasium

Unexpected summer

We started the day at 3:30 in the morning as the 4-8 watch. During the watch the workforce worked with the sails to fight against the strong current so that we wouldn't go backwards. We were moving 0.1 knots but with the current flowing straight against us at two knots and very little wind it was still a success.

I was lookout so I looked for seals and jellyfish instead. The day before we saw lung-jellyfish for the first time which was really cool so I kept a close watch for them. After our watch ended at 8 we all went to sleep and a few hours later we woke up to warm weather and sunshine. For the first time since leaving Öckerö we could were shorts and t-shirts. At three o'clock we had sugar cake and honeydew melon during our break and we sat on deck in the sun and enjoyed it. Just as we had finished eating we saw dolphins jumping through the surface and we stood and watched them until they swam away again. During the day watch I was positioned in the kitchen and served everybody dinner and cleaned up in the kitchen while the workforce did maintenance work.
