British autumn day

As we wandered through the park and I saw the gold and reds that carpeted the paths, I realised how wonderful it is to experience autumn in England.

I woke up at 7 o’clock, as we always do when we are in port. Then it was time to eat breakfast. I ate a big portion of oatmeal, like usual. But my breakfast was a bit extraordinary this morning. Since we are in England, I chose to drink a lovely cup of tea. Can you guess what kind of tea I drank? English Breakfast of course.

It is always exciting to see how the weather is as we go out on the deck each morning. This morning was a bit cloudy with some drizzle. After the 8 o’clock lineup outside, I went right back to bed. The last few days at sea have resulted in a severe lack of sleep. After some hours of sleep, at 10 o’clock, I felt alert and was ready for my first day in Plymouth.

We mostly strolled around the city and looked in some random stores, for instance a cozy candy shop with homemade fudge. Then the whole class went to the mayflower museum. The museum was very interesting. On the way back to the ship we wandered through a lovely park. The sun came out and shone on the yellow leaves.

Autumn is my favourite season of the year. I have therefore been feeling a bit sad that I will not witness my colourful forest back home in Sweden. But as we wandered through the park and I saw the gold and reds that carpeted the paths, I realised how wonderful it is to experience autumn in England.

As the sun went down, I got tired. I crawled up into my bed to watch an episode of Gilmore Girls while sipping on another cup of tea. I wore my mom´s knitted socks and my coziest pyjamas. When I had finished my tea I wrote some in my travel diary before I turned off the light and fell asleep.
